Arusha Declaration Museum

Arusha Declaration Museum is located at Kaloleni area, near Uhuru Tower roundabout. Until 1967, this building was used as a social welfare hall for the Kaloleni community in Arusha. In January 1967, the building hosted the historical meeting from which Tanzania’s Political and Economic Policy of Socialism and Self-reliance was drawn. On February 1977, the building was converted into a small political museum. ($ 20 per pax)

Maasai Traditions & Culture

The Maasai don’t live in villages. Instead, they live in family compounds called bomas. Visiting their bomas provides opportunity to learn about their tradition and culture. A boma is a homestead headed by one male, consisting of houses for each of his wives and their children. The number of huts in a boma is subjected to the size of that family. ($100 per pax)

Hadzabe and Datoga Communities

The Arusha bike tour aims to mobilise delegates and Arusha community members to focus on healthy lifestyles and further their personal fitness through cycling so as to build resilience to diseases, connect, network and to explore the beautiful sceneries of Mt. Planting a Community Garden

Community gardens aim to collectively bring together community members into taking actions against climate change by planting different species of trees, flowers and other economic crops. Delegates will get the opportunity to join the local community to set their mark in saving nature by planting one tree each. Community gardens will be set up in selected areas to build a beautiful community space that bears nutritious foods, stimulate social interaction and creating opportunities for recreation, therapy and sharing skills. The Arusha Community gardens once built they can create job opportunities for young people and women in maintaining and supervising the gardens.

Olduvai Gorge

Olduvai Gorge is a site in Tanzania that holds the earliest evidence of the existence of human ancestors. Paleoanthropologists have found hundreds of fossilized bones and stone tools in the area dating back millions of years, leading them to conclude that humans evolved in Africa. Olduvai is a misspelling of Oldupai, a Maasai word for a wild sisal plant that grows in the area. The gorge is located in the Great Rift Valley, between the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National park it is 30 miles from Laetoli, another fossil-rich area. Oldupai Gorge was formed about 30,000 years ago, the result of aggressive geological activity and streams. (Included on Ngorongoro crater activity)

Experiencing Karatu

Samaki Tatu is situated at an altitude of 1750 meters. The name means “Three Fish”. Located right at the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater, Samaki Tatu offers unparalleled views over the coffee farm as well as a game watering point. Wildlife corridors on the farm enable wild animals like elephants and buffaloes to freely leave the national park and enjoy grassing areas provide for this purpose. Mount Meru Climbing takes about four days, but it can be done in 3 days to complete a trek to the Summit. The distance between Arusha to foots of Mount Meru is 50 Km by road. Mt Kilamanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is not only Africa’s tallest peak, but also the world’s tallest free standing mountain, making it one of the seven summits. Mt. Kilimanjaro is very popular with both experienced hikers and first time adventurers because it is considered to be the easiest of the seven summits. Scaling the mountain requires no technical skills or equipment. Therefore, it is a hiking or “walk up” peak. Machame route climb can be done in a minimum of six days (five nights) on the mountain. However, it is most often tackled over seven days (six nights), for a better altitude acclimatization schedule. The success rate is significantly higher when using the seven day route.
